How bip.so Built a GitHub-Style Wiki for Discord Communities and Reached 1,000 Communities
Nitish Reddy left consulting to build a document platform with git-like collaboration, found traction as a wiki for Discord and Slack communities, and grew to over 1,000 communities through cold outreach and referrals while keeping burn low.

Who built it, and what they built
Nitish Reddy trained as an engineer and spent time as a management consultant before deciding that advisory work kept him too far from actually building products. He moved into the startup world, where he worked on several MVPs and noticed that a team's network was often the biggest accelerator of progress.
bip.so is based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, and was started in September 2020. The company has two co-founders and a team of 10 working remote.
Where the idea came from
Nitish was envious of what developers have in GitHub: a global place to discover projects, follow them, contribute, and build a public profile. He felt no other profession had an equivalent platform, and he wondered what one would look like for other knowledge workers.
At the same time, the #buildinpublic trend was taking off on Twitter, and his own team was seeing the benefits of publishing work so an extended network could help. Those two observations became the root of bip.so: a place where makers share stories, progress notes, and working documents with their network.
Because most knowledge work happens in collaborative documents like meeting notes, PRDs, and process docs, the team made a document editor the central feature, layered a simplified git-style workflow on top, and added a social layer for discovery.
