Who built it, and what they built
Nikhilesh Tayal founded Vidsaga, a global platform that connects startups and SMEs with video production services. Based in Udaipur, the business operates with a small team of two and one cofounder.
His passion for video began in childhood, and he wanted to merge that interest with technology and entrepreneurship. The result is a marketplace designed specifically for video creation rather than general freelance work.
The company runs in bootstrap mode and generates roughly $2,000 each month. Clients come from over 10 countries, including the USA, India, UK, Australia, and several others across Asia and the Middle East.
Where the idea came from
Vidsaga is Tayal's second venture. His first was CvBhejo.com, a mobile recruitment platform for Indian Tier 2 and 3 cities that raised investment from The Morpheus. Despite signing 105 paying clients and registering over 60,000 job seekers, the small organizations in those cities had little willingness to pay for recruitment, so he shut it down.
After the shutdown, he felt lost and unwilling to return to conventional employment. He began teaching theatre in his hometown and formed a team that produced professional plays. With that group, he made a short film on almost no budget.
The filmmaking process struck him as deeply entrepreneurial: creating a unique product, assembling a team, working with limited resources, and marketing the result. To highlight the struggles of other filmmakers, he launched a blog profiling video creators.
Over six months, he featured more than 200 upcoming creators and unknowingly built the supply side of a future marketplace. He noticed these creators lacked sufficient work opportunities, while his startup friends were searching for professional video producers. That gap sparked the idea for a dedicated marketplace.
