Who built it, and what they built
Aquibur Rahman is the founder and CEO of Mailmodo, an email marketing software company based in India. Before starting the company, he spent six years working in marketing roles at various startups, including leading marketing at a large Indian fintech.
Mailmodo lets marketers send interactive, app-like emails designed to lift conversions and engagement. The company launched publicly in January 2021 and reports passing $100K in ARR within five months.
Where the idea came from
While leading marketing at a fintech, Aquibur noticed that email was tied to nearly every other growth metric, so improving email performance mattered to the whole business. When Google announced AMP Email for Gmail, he saw potential for marketers who wanted better conversion rates.
AMP emails can embed interactive elements such as forms, accordions, dynamic data, and APIs directly inside the message, so subscribers can act without opening a separate webpage. But he also found the technology hard to use: it demanded coding skills, sending configuration, and whitelisting, and no existing email service provider supported building and sending AMP emails.
That gap in the email marketing landscape pushed him to start Mailmodo, with the goal of helping marketers get better conversions through interactive widgets and forms inside the email itself.
