Who built it, and what they built
Tarun Lachhwani co-founded Filmbaker, a video production company headquartered in Bangalore that handles projects from initial concept through final production.
The studio covers a wide range of formats, including digital advertisements, corporate films, event aftermovies, 2D and 3D animation, motion graphics, and photography.
The team has completed more than 1,000 projects for upwards of 250 clients, with household names such as Google, Kingfisher, and Meta on that roster.
Where the idea came from
The roots of the company trace back to college, where Tarun and three friends — Gaurav, Rakesh, and Soman — began shooting short films focused on social issues.
Starting with zero filmmaking experience, the group went on to produce more than 80 films during their college years and earned two National Awards along the way.
Tarun says the awards were not the real motivation; it was a love of storytelling that pushed the quartet to turn their hobby into a business.
How they built the first version
Filmbaker follows a structured production process that begins with understanding exactly what each client needs, then pitching narrative ideas during an ideation phase.
