Who built it, and what they built
Neelesh Rangwani cofounded Wishup, a New Delhi-based marketplace that matches business owners and entrepreneurs with remote talent. The service places virtual assistants, bookkeeping assistants, and remote developers with SMB owners, and the company is weighing expansion into skill categories for healthcare, legal, real estate, and financial services.
Revenue has climbed 300% year over year while the user base grew about 200%. The team of assistants went from 6 to over 200, now serving more than 500 clients.
Where the idea came from
Neelesh met Vivek Gupta in 2015 while both were at IIT Madras, and the pair set out to explore the personal, high-end concierge space using technology. The early concept gained traction on its own and spread through customer recommendations.
As the client base grew, the founders noticed the volume of delegated tasks falling. They read this as a signal that their customers, mostly business owners and start-ups, needed ongoing help managing work so they could focus on growing their companies. That insight pushed them to relaunch around supplying professional assistants to freelancers and small businesses.
“The freedom to pursue our vision and make our own decisions has led us to greater satisfaction and accomplishment.”
