Who built it, and what they built
Keyul is the maker of Coursesity, a search engine that helps learners discover and compare online courses and tutorials from different education providers and eLearning platforms. The site covers 7 learning domains and 230 subjects, including programming, design, marketing, business, and personal development.
Coursesity also serves instructors and creators, letting them publish and promote courses to thousands of learners for free. Learners can track progress on courses and connect with other learners at the same level.
Where the idea came from
Three years before the founder's account, Keyul was preparing for software engineer interviews and found himself spending more time searching and comparing courses across eLearning platforms than actually learning. A friend described the same frustration when looking for courses on specific subjects.
Keyul compiled a list of free programming courses from various e-learning sites, categorized by language, framework, and tool, then uploaded it to GitHub and shared it on Reddit. The list spread quickly, with blogs and sites reposting it, and around 17,000 course visits came from the list in just 4 days.
