Who built it, and what they built
Spear Growth is a B2B SaaS marketing agency based in Ghaziabad, founded by Ishaan Shakunt in April 2021. The agency focuses on two services for high-growth companies: paid advertising and SEO.
Its client roster spans companies at every funding stage, from seed and Series A startups to unicorns such as Hasura and Darwinbox, plus YC-backed SuperTokens.
- Paid ads produced thirteen times more SQLs over six months at a steady CPA
- One client went from zero to more than 10,000 users within ten months
- Organic search tripled SQLs over the course of a year
Where the idea came from
Ishaan studied computer science engineering and picked up freelance development work, even winning a Mozilla hackathon, before losing patience with coding and stripping his tech achievements off his resume to try new things.
He experimented widely, launching dozens of small projects including a student NGO, a mocktail stand, and a WhatsApp marketing venture called Hoot that did reasonably well. Marketing each project taught him the craft, and he became a self-taught marketer with support from connections made on LinkedIn.
In 2020 he was leading SEO at a unicorn startup but felt his learning had stalled, so he quit without a plan to focus on personal growth. He initially resisted starting a business, viewing it as a serious commitment that would cost him his freedom.
