Who built it, and what they built
Riten Debnath is the founder of Fueler, an online portfolio platform where knowledge workers publish and manage proof of work instead of leaning on credentials. The company is based in Agartala, India, with a team working remotely from different parts of the world.
Fueler lets a user set up a profile in about 30 seconds at no cost, then build customized portfolios for different clients and niches. The idea is to help skilled people win opportunities by showing what they have actually done.
The platform has grown to more than 7,000 members worldwide, largely through word of mouth, and has paid out over $12,000 to verified members who worked with partner brands that hired talent through Fueler.
Where the idea came from
Riten is a computer science graduate who freelanced for more than four years and worked with over 70 brands around the world. Freelancing gave him a close look at how businesses run, from processes and product cycles to team building and operations.
As a freelancer he kept sending clients hand-picked sets of links to past projects, because a tailored portfolio made a stronger impression than a generic one. Over time managing and customizing those links became a real burden, and other experienced freelancers he spoke with had the same problem.
That shared pain became the product: a simple place to publish all of one's work and assemble a custom selection for each client. He notes that the customized portfolio feature is among the most loved parts of the platform.
Building Fueler with no savings and no prior company-building experience was hard, so the team kept freelancing and consulting for clients in parallel. That income stream funded development, and they split focus between keeping cash flow alive and shipping the product without sacrificing either.
