Who built it, and what they built
Ramsekar is a solo founder based in Chennai, India, who describes himself as an algaepreneur. His company, SGR Nutraceuticals, built products around Spirulina, an algae known for its dense nutritional content.
The product line ranged from Spirulina skin and hair care items to an anti-hair fall chocolate. The chocolate found traction with B2B buyers, helped by a tagline tying the product to absorbing CO2 and releasing oxygen, even though the brand's Instagram account had only 20 followers at the time.

Where the idea came from
After finishing his MBA, Ramsekar wanted to build a business around a product nobody else had attempted. He noticed rising consumer interest in superfoods and organic products after COVID-19 and began researching options, which led him to Spirulina.
He concluded that no one in India had tapped Spirulina's potential, which matched his goal of doing something distinctive. Before committing, he ran market research, studied consumer trends, and tested different Spirulina formulations to validate the idea.
