Who built it, and what they built
The founder is an engineering graduate who completed a Bachelor of Technology at Amity University and previously worked at Randox Laboratory, a diagnostics multinational. He started Pick My Laundry, an on-demand laundry and dry-cleaning service in India, after repeatedly struggling to get clothes washed while living in hostels.
The business runs through a mobile app and website where customers schedule pickups, and riders collect and return clothes from their doorstep. The washing itself is handled by a network of partners and, later, franchisees.
Where the idea came from
The idea came directly from the founder's own college experience. With no reliable laundry shops nearby, he and his friends sometimes waited up to 15 days for their clothes or carried two weeks of laundry home just to get it washed. He counted around 200 hostels and PG accommodations dealing with the same gap.
After researching and surveying the problem, he concluded it affected far more people than just his circle. He had no prior laundry experience and learned the business as he went.
“Whatever you are doing just believe in yourself and give your 100% into it.”
