Who built it, and what they built

Ashutosh Rai is the founder of PreppyPick, a management consulting platform based in Delhi, India. He studied business administration at Amrita University in Kerala and spent part of his final year as an exchange student at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands.

Before starting the company, he worked in business development, where his role centered on generating revenue, winning new clients, and building business ventures. Entrepreneurship had long been his ambition, and in 2020 he introduced PreppyPick.

Where the idea came from

The idea took shape right after graduation. A conversation with friends about how much brand matters in business pushed him to research a platform that would help companies build their brands through imprinted branding and personalized promotional products. A friend suggested the name PreppyPick, and the venture was initiated in 2020.

Because 2020 brought COVID-19 and widespread job losses, the team added recruitment services as another wing, aiming to match talented candidates with companies that needed them.

How they built the first version

PreppyPick positioned itself as a one-stop office solution covering corporate branding, promotional gifts, and manpower services. As a services business, there was no physical product to prototype; the process was to understand what a client needed and then propose the most feasible solution from its consulting offerings.
