How a Blogger Rebuilt After a Crash and Now Runs Four Blogs Earning $5-6K a Month

Who built it, and what they built

Angela Mary Vaz is a 30-year-old blogger and illustrator based in Bangalore, India, where she lives with her two dogs. She has worked online since 2015, drawing comics for companies and clients, building websites for bloggers, and selling physical merchandise from home.

After repeated requests for help, she started Stray Curls to teach women how to build online businesses they loved, filling it with illustrations and mild humor to stand out.

Where the idea came from

In 2020, Google shifted its focus toward niched blogs and Pinterest stopped driving the traffic it once had. Around the same time, her mother was diagnosed with 4th stage cancer, and after her mother passed away, Angela took a long break and could not write as before. Revenue from Stray Curls dropped sharply.

She had received many emails from ad networks asking her to place ads on her site or write about products she did not like, but she refused because Stray Curls felt too personal. Instead, she decided to pivot by creating a second, more tightly niched blog.

Wanting to write about personal development and relationships, she first completed an online degree in Human Psychology and Relationships while her original blog stayed mostly stagnant, then began publishing detailed posts drawn from her own experience and pain.
