Who built it, and what they built
Praveen Malik is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) with more than 23 years of professional experience. A computer science engineer by education, he spent his career managing large multi-geography projects and programs before starting his own venture.
He runs PM-by-PM, a project management blog he describes as one of the top three global blogs in its niche. The business sells his own ebooks and markets third-party project management training programs, and it operates with a team of two from Delhi, India.
Where the idea came from
Malik says he had an entrepreneurial streak since college and tried a few businesses while employed, without much success. His career spanned product development, services and support, and SaaS, with clients across the USA, Europe, and India, which is where he built his project management expertise.
In 2008 he made a mid-career shift into freelance project management work and ran a few workshops. Finding a natural inclination for training and coaching, he concentrated on training and mentored many professionals in practical project management over the following years.
He started the blog in 2014 to build his reputation in the professional training world. Within about a year it was attracting visitors from around the globe, which pushed him to learn blog monetization and internet marketing and ultimately turned his classroom training into an online business.
