Who built it, and what they built
Vaibhav Kishnani is an engineer by training who describes himself as a writer by profession. He founded Content-Whale in 2017 while in his third year of engineering, building it around the belief that quality writing sits behind every company's digital presence and marketing.
Content-Whale organizes its work around business writing, academic writing, and graphic design, spanning 42 content formats. Digital marketing agencies make up the core client base, with corporates, start-ups, and students next.
Where the idea came from
The venture was unplanned. After his second year of engineering, Vaibhav took a low-paying part-time content writing internship and was fired within 7 days. A second part-time writing job ended the same way, over quality issues. Instead of quitting, he kept taking temporary writing jobs to build expertise.
That experience exposed what he describes as a hole in India's content industry: clients and writers alike behaved unprofessionally, quality slipped at each step, and some customers got cheated. His fix was a protected setup in which one party answers for client-ready quality and on-time writer pay, pairing writers suited to each project with the brand's goal.
He launched with only five writers. Early wins boosted his confidence, and the agency went on to land unicorn customers including several well-known brands such as Quikr and Boston Consulting Group.
“If you put your heart and soul into something, things are bound to fall in place, and everything will be as you imagined”
